Love is in the air …no matter what our age!

Is love, sex, romance and the dating game just for the youngsters? Here at Regenerated Me, we believe the answer is definitely no. If you’ve been widowed after many years of happy marriage (or even many years of not-so happy marriage!), are now divorced, or just never got round to finding “the one”, then it’s worth remembering that being in a warm, loving relationship in our later years can do wonders for our overall health and well-being. This includes reduced stress levels, improved physical health, increased longevity, improved cognitive function, better sleep habits and better self-care overall.

So where to start?

Whilst you could strike it lucky and meet the person of your dreams in the frozen food aisle at Tesco’s, here are some solid, practical ways to get the ball rolling without putting undue pressure on yourself.

Social clubs

Social clubs, groups or societies that are in line with your own interests are a really good way to meet like-minded people – and possibly find love. Interested in gardening? Join a gardening club. Love good food and want to learn how to cook? Then join a cookery class. There’s zero pressure “to meet”, plus you can expand your knowledge and friendship group at the same time.

Events and activities

Doing a simple Google search along the lines of “Events and activities for seniors near me” can bring up a whole host of things that you might want to try your hand at near to where you live. Plus of course, they can provide opportunities to meet new people.. and potentially find love.

Volunteering

Volunteering can be an excellent way to meet new people – and make a real and positive impact in your community, giving you a really strong sense of worth and purpose. So consider volunteering for a local charity or other non-profit organisation.

Online dating sites

Gone are the days when meeting your partner via an online site was considered a little bit desperate or weird! So why not give it a go? Bear in mind, while some of the dating sites offer a basic service free of charge, there will be limitations on access, so it could well be worth investing in an upgrade service. Just some of the sites worth taking a closer look at include SilverSingles, OurTime, eHarmony and Match.com. If you do sign up, please be extra cautious when dealing with a stranger online.

Matchmaker, Matchmaker Make me a Match!

For a tailored, bespoke service, don’t rule out a more traditional dating agency. You may pay that bit more for the service, but as they say, what price true love! To start looking, Google something like “Top rated old-fashioned dating agencies”.
