As I’ve got older I’ve not only ‘seized the days’, I’ve seized the opportunity to live a simpler, more stress-free life. I’ve not had a highly paid job for something like 17 years. But I’ve been content. I no longer have a car, I don’t splash out on wildly expensive holidays, I don’t go out to high-end restaurants (as often as I used to)!

If you can pare your life back to the very bare – and very enjoyable – essentials, I promise you, it’s more worth living. Maybe you agree!

Seizing the day also works really well for me, too, and simplifying my life as far as possible – although I still have a car and enjoy going to new, far-flung destinations…when time and money allow!

I am also a keen exponent of the concept of “now”. By that, I mean, being able to enjoy the moment – no matter how fleeting that may be. Many of us as we get older have a propensity to either dwell on the past or think far too hard about the future!

But when you get in the “now”, you can really appreciate the monent – be it a great taste from a certain food, or the warmth of the sun as it hits your face…before being hidden again by cloud!

There’s something that I have started recently and that is decluttering!
Not only does this create more physical space , but space in my life to be more creative and calm.

The thought of leaving my children the task of clearing out 20 yr old t shirts and professional magazines from the 70’s fills me with dread and spurs me on …

Hello my new tidy, spacious rooms and cupboards ( well, almost).

Indeed, & having less stuff helps with keeping the place clean & tidy.

Love the principal of “less stuff”, Big Blue, but this is often easier said than done. That said, when me and the missus embark on a big clear-out and call our trusted rubbish removal man…it doesn’t half feel good!
