Here at Regenerated Me, we’re all about ageing as well as we can – and where we can, give you the help and advice to actually reverse some of those less thrilling aspects of getting older! Our teeth can often be a real let-down to our confidence and our smile – and may even make us look and feel older than we actually are. Fortunately, there are several options out there that may help improve the appearance of your teeth, but without breaking the bank:
Tooth Whitening
This is both a popular and affordable way to deal with stained teeth. You can go for an at-home whitening kit from your pharmacist or online (but do carry out a little research on the product first by either asking the pharmacist if buying in-store or check the reviews if buying online) or visit a dentist for professional-grade whitening treatment. This will cost more, but of course, you will be in the hands of a professional.
Composite Bonding
If some of your teeth are chipped or cracked, composite bonding may be a good option for you. Carried out by a dentist, this involves applying a tooth-coloured composite material to the damaged area to improve the appearance and protect the tooth itself. If your teeth are stained as well, the dentist may well recommend a course of teeth whitening prior to the composite bonding.
Veneers
Veneers are super-thin custom-made shells that are bonded to the front surface of your teeth. They can be a relatively quick and effective way to deal with stained, chipped or misshapen teeth, and can also be used to cover up unsightly gaps. Whilst being a more expensive option than composite bonding, they can last for many years.
Crowns and Implants
If your teeth are severely damaged, you may need a crown. This involves placing a cap (or tooth shaped “crown”) over the damaged tooth itself to protect it and improve the appearance. Implants are a very good option if the tooth is actually missing altogether. Here, a prosthetic root is secured to the jaw bone – fusing with it so it can last a lifetime. The crown is then attached to the root, and so, completing the procedure.
Please note that the cost of dental procedures can vary widely depending on the provider, so it’s always a good idea to shop around and compare prices whilst you check out the reviews for the actual quality of the work carried out. You can also check with your health insurance provider to see if any of the options above are covered under your plan.
